I’m not taking any credit what-so-ever for this list since it all came from Tankspot.com. This post is mainly for me to make a mental checklist as my Warrior approaches level 80.
Just like their disclaimer states, “This is not the “ultimate” pre-raid tanking guide – it excludes gear that drops from bosses in the 5 man runs since such drops are random and often require many runs of the same instance to obtain such gear. It also excludes epic crafted gear and gear that requires exalted faction rep.“
This is for fresh 80’s to acquire some great starter tanking gear as fast as possible.

Unfortunately, Trinkets were left out of their list so I’m going to have to dig around a bit for those.
Again, I’m taking ZERO credit for this list and merely copied their list (in my own words) for convenience purposes. Tankspot.com is the owner of the information but is firewalled for myself and a lot of other bloggers who, like myself, blog from work.

I was thinking of one of these as my warrior is getting to this stage, but wow, its a bit mroe complicated than healing gear lists.

Yeah I’m only 61 at the moment but the levels are going by pretty fast. I wanted to keep an eye out on the AH for some good deals on the BoE’s and kept forgetting which ones to watch out for lol.

If your planning on doing instances from 70 onwards and maybe learning to tank as you go along consider getting someone to craft the cobalt set for you. It will get you just under the def cap for level 70. One or two quest items and instance drops and it will still be a solid tanking gear for a few levels, i’m level 73 on my Death Knight and still using the majority of the pieces. I think the total set cost something like 24 cobalt bars which cost me 20g or so, money well spent

Yeah I did that for my Prot Pally and it was a pretty stellar set. I should probably not be lazy and go farm the cobalt again for my Warrior lol. I’d like to instance as much as possible even though I know questing is a lot faster. I’d rather have a good idea of what I’m doing at 80 rather than level as Fury or Arms and then get thrown in to the wolves.

I highly suggest you get the Titan Steel set for when you do reach 80
-shield
-Feet
-Helm
I kept these three pieces well into naxx 25 man.
All three have tons of Def & Stam. They are very hard to replace. I finally replaced the Shield with the Wall of Terror (best shield before Uld) You’ll really enjoy tanking in Northrend instances.
